Not So Empty House (Part 1)
I woke up in the middle of a September.
"Jeez, what a deep slumber I woke up from.."
I thought to myself just as I was stretching myself - reaching my hands above me and yawning lengthily, widely. Kind of squirming how my sleepness perished away from me and filled me with energy instead. I closed my mouth and stopped my silly looking face doing whatever it was doing. I looked outside my bedroom's window. It was a nice clear looking day, with sun coming to the middle, implying that it's almost noon.
"Noon already?"
I asked myself loudly, thinking that it was about time to get myself a meal.
"Very well! Time to greet my roommates! I wonder if they're still sleeping.."
I've got out of my warm - soft bed, standing straight, trying to keep my balance. I was nervously trembling since my nerves forgot how standing works, apparently, I was sleeping for seven months. Time long enough to forget how to stand and move around properly. Though, after few failed steps, ending with me falling to my room's comfortable carpet- I finally used to walking again. It almost felt like if my brain was trying to remember something for so long and the feeling of an accomplishment only filled me with more happiness.
"Finally, now's the time to greet my roommates.."
I left the room with few unsure steps until walking confidently down the stairs to the first floor of my house. There was a long hallway right in front of me, like a main artery - doors on the sides led into other rooms. They were all labeled with names which room is which.
"I don't remember.. the rooms being labeled. Someone must've have been awake then."
I thought to myself again, after all- I didn't want anyone to hear my weird mumbling. My thought was suddenly interrupted when I sniffed a pleasant scent coming from the kitchen and smelt toast being cooked and slowly melting butter on it. I felt my mouth getting really wet inside, I would say I was kinda drooling, but I didn't notice, since when I opened the door to the kitchen - I saw Bream making me a meal, and just as she noticed me- she let out a slight chuckle.
"Good noon, Cherril!"
Bream immediately greeted me, much quicker than I expected, I think my sences were just still too sleepy.
"Good- *yawn* noon.. Bream.."
My yawn got in the middle of my sentence, it must've looked hilarious since Bream started chuckling again. Let alone I blushed and folded by arms, stepping aside and looking away. She still looked quite amused by my behavior, but through her cute giggly laugh, she offered me a plate with three freshly cooked toasts with melting butter on them. My eyes sparkled.
"So it was true! Thanks!"
I took the plate and sat to the table, stuffing my myself with the toasts. I was nomming on the second one when my bright mood got a slight urge to talk.
"Bream? Am I the last one who woke up, or is there anyone else still sleeping? I bet you woke up first.."
Bream turned off the water in the sink and put a cleaned glass back onto its place.
"We could say I was the first one waking up, but, throughout those seven months, I was still awake and going to work.. actually, the first one who woke up was Allen. I only got a quick glimpse of him, since he has suddenly vanished and it was a week since I haven't seen him."
I took a bite of the toast and chewed, processing the information until I gulped and answered with a nonsence.
"Maybe he actually found a job and made family?"
I laughed, while Bream seemed rather boggled by what theme she has imagined. She blushed and grabbed a dirty spoon, washing it.
"Gosh, Cherril stop making such inappropriate remarks.."
I raised my eyebrow and tilted my head to side.
"Whaat? What's so bad about it? Was that an inappropriate remark?"
"It wasn't, but Bream yo- have you forgotten what she's like throughout your slumber, Cher?"
Suddenly another female voice spoke inside the next room, so I turned my head to see who it was.
"Hey- Camille!"
I waved, seeing Camille- another roommate of mine, lying on the couch in the living room.
"Were you there this entire time!?"
I asked. I sound horribly happy today. Camille rolls over to her left side on the couch and mumbles into one of those fluffy pillows she was resting her head on, making it difficult to understand. I turned around to Bream again, eating my toast shrugging with my usual hopeless expression.
"She said, yes, Cherril. You've gotten deaf or what?"
Bream answered, I was surprised why she was suddenly so annoyed.
"Calm down, jeez. What did I do?"
I wondered when Camille raised her head from the pillow and answered instead of Bream.
"This is the kind of science Allen should crack, lol~"
I started laughing together with Camille rolling over the edge of the couch and ending up on the floor. She was just making those silent choking laughter sounds, complaining about how her stomach hurts. I almost choked in my toast as I swallowed it wrongly.
"Really? Really guys?"
Bream was starting to get really flustrated about our daring behavior. Me and Camille quickly realized who were trying to roast when my eyes started tearing up together with Camille who's been running around a table in the living room- trying to escape Bream's upcoming punch. I, as I was the closest to her- experienced some kind of fast self-awareness mixed with hard shake-up. I can bet my new block that I was fully awake now. For Camille, she got tossed around few times and ended up napping again. All those loud noises and our constant laughing has brought our last roommate come check on us. It was Andy who was standing at the door, looking unamused and tired as usual.
" . . ."
He was silent, only I and Bream greeted him, drinking our tea and finally calming down. Camille noticed that Andy has come to pay us a visit. For Andy's tiny childish figure was Camille absolutely melted away, hurrying towards him and hugging him tightly.
"Awawaw! Who's our little sleepyhead, nyeh? Oyii! Look at you!"
She kept on pulling Andy's emo flap around, kissing his entire face and nuzzling into his fluffy hair. Bream and I looked at each other with smirks, knowing- expecting the exact same thing to happen. And it did! Just as I was sipping my tea- Andy finally snapped and poofed into his second form. From being merely a cute little child- into almost two meters tall handsome guy with Camille hanging down his neck. I blushed hardly, avoiding his cobalt violet eyes. Bream noticed my reaction right away, I was expecting her to make some embarrassing joke in return - but she just giggled and snorted for herself.
"Nice necklace!"
She called out for Andy who was struggling with Camille holding tight onto his chemise.
"Thanks, I got it just today but realized I don't like it anymore-"
"WHUAAA?!"
Camille interrupted.
"Do you want to keep it? For free of course.."
He continued. I thought of adding something to it- but today, was just so humorous I couldn't come up with something funny enough to draw attention but not mess up. I kept on drinking my tea and giggling through the fluid, childishly.
"No thanks, I don't really want to wear a piece trash around my neck."
Said Bream and prepared Andy's place for join. He finally gets rid of Camille and sits down to the table right in front of Bream. Camille sat next to me, grabbing yogurt from the table. Andy looked rather puzzled, unable to decide what food he should take. I smiled and offered him still freshly prepared mozzarella ball that I was supposed to eat. I knew he loves mozzarella, that why I refused it and rather offered it, gave it to Andy.
"Aren't you gonna eat it?"
He asks before taking a bite. I shake my head with a grin and encourage him to eat it. Everyone look really happy. We strike a big conversation in the end, talking and talking- laughing and enjoying our free time. Before the happiness is shattered by a wireless radio from the outside.
"2 PM - TIME FOR WORK"
Everyone's faces grew suddenly so disgusted and stressed. Bream was already dressed and was hurrying outside, saying goodbye and taking a bus just on time. Camille was also heading to her work. Crowds, swarms of people, all kinds of existences were taking over the outside. Only I and Andy were left home. I was surprised why hasn't he left with the others, while on the he told me that he has a day off. I nodded of an understanding and sidetracked his attention over to a topic I quickly came up with. He spent the entire day talking and drawing.
Waiting.
